Shopify Updates: 10.29.2024-11.11.2024
- ShipSurance is now available on Managed Markets shipping labels.
Merchants on Shopify, Advanced, or Plus plans now receive free shipping insurance on all Managed Markets shipping labels purchased in the Shopify admin for up to $200. Additional optional insurance can be purchased for all plans up to $5000.
- Finance is now on the Shopify app.
Shopify owners can now manage all Shopify Finance products including Shopify balance, equity, credit, disbursements, taxes, and bill pay in the Shopify app in all countries where Shopify Payments is supported. Get access to all your Shopify Finance accounts, cards, and offers wherever your business takes you. Apply for loans and business financing to fuel business growth. Transfer funds, control cash flow, track payments, and manage your cards with ease. The new “Finance” section can be found in the overflow menu on the navigation bar under “Finance”. The “Payouts” menu item will be removed and you will be able to access your payouts through the Finance tab.
- Apps tab in the checkout and accounts editor.
Shopify added an “Apps” tab to the checkout and accounts editor to easily manage all your app blocks in one place. Now you can quickly configure and view new functionality on Checkout, Thank you, and Order status pages using only the appropriate app blocks in any section of the page.
- Configure your combined listings in search and discovery surfaces.
Shopify Combined Listings app users can now use the Shopify Search & Discovery app to customize the display of combined listings in search results, predictive search, and product recommendations. You can flexibly choose whether to display only child products, parent products, or both.
- Updates to Shopify’s Standard Product Taxonomy.
Shopify has updated Shopify’s standard product taxonomy with additional categories, attributes, and values so you can categorize your products more accurately. The taxonomy is an evolving library that is based on user feedback and market analysis. The latest version includes updates for product areas such as apparel and accessories, home and garden, sporting goods, and more.
- Updates to UPS shipping rates when buying labels
Shopify has updated its integration with UPS to show real rates when buying UPS shipping labels in Shopify Shipping. Real UPS shipping rates when buying labels offer deeper discounts on smaller packages with UPS® Ground and UPS® Ground Saver. We’ve removed the Shopify plan discount line from the label purchase summary to speed up the process. You will still receive discounts on all UPS shipping labels purchased through Shopify Shipping.
- Shopify Tax now supports automated filing for U.S. sales tax refunds
Shopify Tax now supports automated filing for U.S. sales tax returns. This will help busy sellers further streamline sales tax compliance and simplify the U.S. filing process. Shopify Tax automated filing integrates directly with your store to prepare tax returns with increased accuracy. You have the flexibility to choose where to file your return and view it directly from the admin area – and all for a favorable flat fee per return.
- Unified User Authentication Experience Update
Shopify has implemented a unified user authentication experience when performing important actions in Admin, such as deleting employee accounts, transferring store ownership, etc. This update protects your business from session hijacking, allowing you to stay on track – no need to navigate to another location or perform a complete re-login.
- Flow: A new Cancel order action replacing deprecated version
A new “Cancel order” action that cancels an order and cancels payment authorization replaces the previous version of this action. The new version includes the “Refund items” option, which will refund the amount paid by the customer, including the cost of goods, duties, and shipping. The previous action, now renamed “Cancel order (deprecated)” uses a different API that does not void payment authorization and provides separate options for “Refund items” and “Refund shipping”. Shopify recommends updating existing workflows to utilize the new action.
- Increase inventory adjustment history from 90 days to 180 days
Update: Shopify has increased the length of the inventory adjustment history table for a product or variant from 90 days to 180 days.
This is the table that appears on the product or variant adjustment history page and contains the most recent inventory adjustment history data.
The Activity column displays the event that triggered the inventory adjustment, such as a new order, return, or manually selected reason for the inventory adjustment.
The numbers under each stock status show first the adjusted quantity and then the new total quantity. A dash indicates that the adjustment did not affect this column.
