Shopify Updates 11/18/2024 – 11/25/2024
Validate shipping addresses in Admin. On the Companies, Customers, Draft Orders, and Shipping Labels pages, addresses with potential problems, such as invalid zip codes, are automatically validated when changes are made. Suggestions are offered to correct these issues quickly and accurately to minimize delays and delivery failures.
- Increased limits for automatic app-based discounts. Shopify has increased the number of active automatic app-based discounts per store, which will help merchants who were previously limited by our limit of 5 automatic app-based discounts. This update will also allow merchants who have been using Shopify scripts to manage multiple promotions to properly model them as separate automatic discounts when using Shopify Functions apps and features.
- Reach local customers with new retail-first customer segments. Customer segments help you personalize the customer experience and better target shoppers based on their behavior. You can now create customer segments that more effectively target local customers, helping you refine your strategy based on proximity and shopping channels.
Customer_within_distance: this feature allows you to segment customers based on their proximity to a retail location. Use it to identify local shoppers who can benefit from in-store offers or events.
Orders_placed by app and location: you can now segment customers by sales channel, such as POS, or based on orders placed at specific retail locations. This allows you to get a more detailed view of your customers’ shopping habits and personalize your communications based on where and how they shop.
You can access these features by visiting the Customers section and going to Segments to create a new segment. There are also two new segment templates to help you get started: Customers near retail locations and Customers who have frequently shopped in-store in the last year. - Update: All Managed Markets orders now payout at first label scan. DHL eCommerce for Managed Markets uses USPS to pick up and deliver packages domestically. In the past, merchants were paid for orders and charged duties and taxes after the USPS delivered the package to the DHL eCommerce domestic hub. Beginning Nov. 21, for orders fulfilled through DHL eCommerce, Managed Markets will initiate billing and parcel payments at the first “in-transit” event on the USPS line. Payments to sellers will now be made immediately after the USPS picks up and scans the parcel. This will reduce the time to payout and create a uniform experience for all Managed Markets carriers.
- It’s now easier to find the app with the exact feature you are looking for in the Shopify App Store. You can now search and browse apps by a specific category or feature in the Shopify App Store. For example, if you search for “Live Chat” or “Inventory Synchronization,” you’ll get a list of app recommendations that support those features.
You can also see what features the app offers in the “Categories” section of the app list.
The managed Markets address correction service is now live!
Managed Markets now offers an address correction service on all labels. This is a new service that will help improve address accuracy and ultimately reduce the number of returned parcels.
How it works.
All Managed Markets labels undergo address verification during order processing.
* Orders with valid addresses will be available for immediate fulfillment.
* Orders with invalid addresses will be placed on hold for Managed Markets to verify and correct within 1 business day.
* Orders will be shipped in one of two states: “Address Corrected” or ‘Address Error’, where the recommended next step is to contact the customer to correct the address.
If you want to opt out of the free service, go to Shopify Admin settings: Markets > Preferences > Managed Markets. There, you can toggle the address correction service to the “Off” position. You can return the service to “Enabled” at any time.
