Creating a discount set

By using the generator, you can either let it automatically create any quantity of distinct codes or input up to 10,000 particular codes for importation when building a discount set. The generator has various settings that enable you to customize the codes. Following the discount set settings, the remaining part of the form should look familiar. It replicates Shopify discount creation form and allows you to specify all the discount details within the same process so you do not have to navigate back and forth within the Shopify admin. On the right-hand side of the form, you can view a summary of the discount and the set you will generate. Our aim is to ensure you are informed and can quickly check your settings before clicking on the create button.

How do the Usage Limits work?

The usage limit section applies at the individual code level, whereas the other settings apply at the discount level (overall codes within that discount). The «Limit number of times this discount can be used in total» feature enables every code in the set to be used a certain number of times, and we usually suggest setting this to 1. The «Limit to one use per customer» feature restricts usage based on a customer&#8217;s email address, and we usually advise selecting this option.

How many codes can be added to a discount set?

There is no specific constraint on the quantity of discount codes that can be included in a discount set over a period of time, but the number is limited depending on the type of discount set being generated. For «generated» discount sets, there is a limit of 100,000 codes per set. For «specific» code discount sets, there is a limit of 10,000 codes per set.

How do I modify the discount details for a discount set?

When creating a discount set in the Bulk Discount Generator app, the discount codes will be available in the Shopify admin under the Discounts section. The title used for the discount set in the Bulk Discount Generator app will match the name in the Shopify admin. You can go into the discount and modify the details, such as discount amount or type, in the Shopify admin or our app. Any additional codes added through the Bulk Discount Generator app will use the latest details for the discount. Note, if you change the title of the discount in the Shopify admin, it will no longer match the name of the discount set in the Bulk Discount Generator app.

What does the Importing and Queued status mean?

Once you create a new discount set or add codes to an existing one, you will observe one of the following statuses: Importing: This means the discount set is in the process of importing the codes into Shopify, and you should expect to see the codes available in Shopify once the process is completed. Queued: This status indicates that the discount set is waiting to import the codes into Shopify. You will only see this status if there is already a discount set in the «In progress» status. To speed up the individual import process, we limit the number of running discount set imports to one per account due to rate limits in Shopify API. The queued imports will execute in the order they were added to the queue.

How can I set my discount to work for specific product variants?

There may be situations where you wish to provide a discount code for a particular product variant, such as a clearance color or size. In these scenarios, you can begin by choosing the option to apply the discount exclusively to «Specific products:» Once you select the product, you will be able to choose which variants you want to qualify for the discount.

What permissions does SaleX: Bulk discount generator request?

When you install Bulk Discount Generator on Shopify, the app requests certain permissions. Some of these permissions may appear to be excessive, but the app only uses the data necessary to create discount price rules and eligibility settings while keeping all data secure. The following permissions are requested along with the reasons for them: VIEW PRODUCTS: This permission is necessary for the app to access product or collection information when creating discount sets for eligibility. READ CUSTOMERS: This permission enables the app to set discount eligibility for customers and segments. WRITE DISCOUNTS: This permission is needed to keep track of the total number of discount codes created for your shop, based on Shopify 20 million code limit.
